We can use veneers to:
Change the form and shape of the teeth. This may be necessary when teeth are too small or malformed during development. Also, some teeth may have had acute trauma and others may have been worn down over time; veneers can be used in both these circumstances to restore the proper form of the teeth.
Protect teeth that have been damaged. Sometimes the teeth at the front of the mouth are exposed to damage due to erosion or excessive small forces over time leading to microscopic fracture lines. In these instances a veneer can cover and protect these teeth from further deterioration.
Cosmetically enhance discoloured teeth. Any teeth that have intrinsic staining or are discoloured in any way can be masked with a veneer. They are an excellent way of hiding imperfections and greatly improving your appearance.
Give the illusion of straighter teeth. Multiple veneer treatment at the front of the mouth can be designed in a specific way to fit together as such to give the appearance of straighter teeth.
Your choice of smile
A veneer can either be used for a single tooth to help it blend in with the rest of the teeth or the treatment can be used on multiple teeth to enhance the entire smile. Since this is a cosmetic treatment it is often up to you as to how many teeth you would like to include in the treatment. A full smile can involve the front ten teeth; however lovely smiles can also result from simply the front two or four teeth. The choice is often dependent upon your needs and the final smile design that is possible in your mouth.
